Why Should I Use a Wired Internet Connection Over Wi-Fi?

What is a Wired Internet Connection?
A Wired Internet Connection is a network that provides Internet on your laptops/PCs through an Ethernet cable (hard wire) connected to a data wall socket in your home and/or office.

How can I set up a Wired Internet Connection?

  1. Locate the data wall socket - typically next to the telephone (landline) socket.
  2. Connect the device to the wall socket using an Ethernet Cable.
  • You will require an adapter with an Ethernet port if your device does not have one.

Why Should I Use a Wired Internet Connection Over Wi-Fi?

Reliability and Stability
When correctly configured, Wired networks provide greater reliability and stability than Wireless networks. They are preferred in situations that require continuous and strong internet connection such as your online classes.

Uninterrupted connection
A Wired connection is not influenced by other surrounding network connections. For instance, multiple close wireless networks could interfere with one another and disrupt your online experience. Additionally, walls and/or objects will also have an impact on wireless connections whereas wired connection will remain unaffected.

Speed
A Wired connection is much faster than wireless networks because it is only connected to your device while Wireless networks are shared by multiple people. Hence, a Wired connection will prevent any lags or disconnection during your online classes.
