Network Shared Folder Services

Service Description 

This service includes support for the following:

  • Secure Network Folder services.
  • Home Folders for AUS Staff, Faculty and Registered Students.
  • Department Shared Folders for AUS Faculty and Staff.
  • Class Folders for AUS Students.
  • Provide custom shared folders for faculty and staff.

Activities included

  • Setup, maintenance and support for Shared Folders.
  • Support services for all clients (students, faculty and staff).
  • Creating new Shared folders.
  • Backup & restore shared folders.

Activities Not Included

  • Shared Folder access Training.
  • Creating shared folders for non AUS clients.
Service Availability 

Maximum planned downtime is < 87.6 hours out of 8,760 hours per year.

No end-user training is provided to clients on how to utilize the service.

Clients are required to submit network shared folder inquiries via any of the IT Service Desk available options - See Further Information or Support

How to Access the Service 

Faculty and Staff

  • Each Faculty/staff is provided 7GB of personal online storage (Home Folder U: drive), by logging onto any on-campus computer, the U-Drive will be automatically mapped and will be readily available. Alternatively, typing \\nasfiler1\username in the run command would also give access to the shared folder.
  • Each Department is provided with shared online storage (Department folder N: drive), by logging onto any on-campus computer, the N-Drive will be automatically mapped and will be readily available. Alternatively, typing \\nasfiler1\department$ in the run command would also give access to the shared folder.

Students:

  • Each registered student is provided 1GB of personal online storage (Home Folder U: drive) for academic use. By logging onto any on-campus computer, the U-Drive will be automatically mapped and will be readily available. Alternatively, typing \\nasfiler1\b000xxxxx or \\nasfiler1\g000xxxxx in the run command would also give access to the shared folder.
Fees 

This service is provided to clients without any fees.
