Software Phones Services

Service Description 

Software phone is a telephony application for PCs, laptops or tablets running compatible operating system with AUS phone system infrastructure. It includes support for the following:

  • Provide access to AUS phone system.

Activities included

  • Install the software.
  • Configure the PC/Laptop or tablet.
  • Create new account or associated with the current office phone (Digital or IP).
  • Test the functionality and the features.
  • End-user Training.

Activities Not included

  • Wired/wireless PC/Laptop headsets.
  • Third party software or non-supported protocols.
Service Availability 

Maximum planned downtime is < 87.6 hours out of 8,760 hours per year.

Clients of this Service: 
Available Training 

No end-user training is provided to clients on how to utilize the service.

How to Request the Service 

Eligible clients are Faculty and Staff in all campus buildings.

They are required to submit an existing wall socket activation requests and/or new wall socket installation requests via any of the IT Service Desk available options - See Further Information or Support.

They are eligible for the following support:

  • Dial Local, Domestic and International numbers*.
  • Providing a phone number which can be dialed directly from off campus.
  • Providing Extension Authorization Code to lock/unlock phone and dialing**.
  • Use Phone System basic features (Call Forward, Call Pickup, Conference Call, Placing a call on Hold, Speed dialing, Transfer Call)**.

* Head Department approval is sought to enable the Domestic and international dialing.

** More features are available on demand.

How to Access the Service 

Software phones service is available to the client upon request.

Fees 

Soft phone service is provided to the clients - upon availability - without any fees.
