Wireless Network Service

Service Description 

This service includes support for the following:

  • Provide access to network services to Students, Faculty and Staff through a wireless connection on the AUS campus.

Activities included:

  • Provide wireless coverage inside all academic and dormitories buildings.
  • Provide outdoors wireless coverage in all academic areas.
  • Protect client’s wireless network traffic by assigning them to appropriate network location.
  • Support and troubleshoot connectivity problems.
  • Provide new wireless access points (for fee service).
  • Provide guest wireless access to the Internet through self-registration service.

Activities Not included:

  • Provide wireless network cards and adaptors.
  • Provide wireless switches, hubs, extenders and routers.
  • Manually create accounts for guest users.
Service Availability 

Maximum planned downtime is < 87.6 hours out of 8,760 hours per year.

How to Request the Service 

Permanent / temporary students, alumni, faculty and staff in AUS Campus.  This service is not available to residents in the Housing areas. Housing residence can buy linksys access point from operation department at the predetermined fee.

Students, Faculty and Staff are required to:

  • Have a valid username and password.
  • A device with wireless capabilities.
  • Configure their devices as in ITFAQ.
How to Access the Service 

Wireless network is available on campus.

Fees 

Access to the wireless network service is provided without a fee to the clients. Requests for new wireless access points require a predetermined fee.
