Wireless Network Service

Service Description 

This service includes support for the following:

  • Provide access to network services to Students, Faculty, Staff and Event Sponsors through a wireless connection on the AUS campus.

Activities included:

  • Provide wireless coverage inside all academic and dormitories buildings.
  • Provide wireless coverage outdoors in all academic areas.
  • Protect client’s wireless network traffic by assigning them to appropriate network location.
  • Support and troubleshoot connectivity problems.
  • Provide new wireless access points (for fee service).

Activities Not included:

  • Provide wireless network cards and adaptors.
  • Provide wireless switches, hubs and routers.
Service Availability 

Maximum planned downtime is < #???# hours out of #???# hours per year.

Wireless configuration instructions are available through ITFAQ.

How to Request the Service 

Permanent / temporary students, alumni, faculty, staff and event sponsors on the AUS Campus.  This service is not available to residents in the AUS Staff Housing areas.

Students, Faculty and Staff are required to:

Have a valid username and password.
A device with wireless capabilities.
Configure their devices as in ITFAQ.

Event Sponsors are required to:

Get an event username and password from the IT Helpdesk.
Configure their guests devices as in ITFAQ.

How to Access the Service 

Wireless network is available on campus.

Fees 

Access to the wireless network service is provided without a fee to the clients. Requests for new wireless access points require a predetermined fee.
